What's with all the fucking chaos?

November 13, 2018

The shootings, the fires, the floods, the hurricanes... it seems that any minute will come the plague and the locusts and frogs will fall from the sky. Things feel out of control and chaotic. Our government is feeling more and more like an enemy of the people instead of the public servants they’re meant to be. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by it all, even to the point that we are led more and more into a place of distraction and disease as we do anything to try to cope. Many people are walking around traumatized, reactive, and in pain--and there doesn’t seem to be an end to it. The love and light, thoughts and prayers aren’t really working. We want to help but don’t even know where to begin. Things just look progressively worse, and many in the world are feeling terrified.

However, allow me to share with you something to realize here that may offer some insight into why all of this is happening.

I study transformation deeply. I can see on a global level what happens on an individual level, and it’s exactly the same. If you don’t know what’s going on it can be scary as shit. Even if you DO understand what’s happening it can be very disorienting and keep you in a state of feeling “shaken up.”

Here is what’s going on.

You see, evolution is a not only a force for survival, but it’s something more. What evolution is, in as plain of a way that I can state it, is life becoming aware of itself. Life begins, and then over a period of millions of years, it becomes more and more complex and intelligent until it reaches a point of self-awareness.

It’s easy to take this for granted now, but just think for a moment about how amazing it is that we have thoughts and feelings. What’s even more amazing is that this is relatively new for humans, and the very few species of animals that have a sense of “self.” Humans can think, communicate, and create in ways that we forgot to be fascinated by a long time ago. But it IS fascinating. Have you ever stopped to wonder when the first THOUGHT happened? Can you imagine how incredibly weird that must have been? I mean, what about language? Where the fuck did THAT come from? And how did we get so many? Who invented them? What about different races of people? How did THAT happen? I mean… WTF??

(Welcome to my brain, folks)

What’s more is with each level of “self” awareness, the birth of language and complex communication and relationships, we remain utterly curious about who we are, where we come from, and why we’re here, and what our potential is. The minute we think we have things figured out, we explain things and then it’s on to the bigger questions. Interestingly enough science and religion are both on a quest to try to figure things out. Religion tried so hard to jump to an answer, but now, we have millions of people saying, “well, wait a minute, what about THIS?” The curiosity doesn’t stop, ever. Collectively, the closer we look, we find way more mystery than we do answers, and frankly, it’s driving us NUTS.

We see the chaos on the surface and we want to stop it and have peace on earth, live in a world that makes sense (you know, the world that takes care of it’s resources, where we’re not killing each other over stupid things, and we all are encouraged to think, be creative, ask questions, have food to eat everyday, and realize we’re all sharing one very special planet here?) and finally be able to relax and feel safe & secure.

(And I digress: do you have any freakin’ idea what has to happen for a planet to be able to sustain life? I mean, it has to line up perfect with a star, and it takes millions of years to form an atmosphere, geez, if you ever stopped to look beyond Earth and realize that you’re living on one teeny tiny rock floating in a space so big you can’t even comprehend it, and you’re one of trillions and trillions of of those rocks...your freakin’ jaw would be on the floor every single day. It’s like cells in your body. I mean, earth is just ONE of them. And we’re on that little microscopic thing fighting over who’s right. WTF? I mean, that’s insane when you look from that perspective. At least, it is to me.)

Ok so back to our regularly scheduled programming.

So the chaos, the shootings, the crime, and the crap… THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS when we have hit a point in evolution where we need to, well, think bigger. There’s people that would argue that this is a pattern through history, this is human nature, this “rise and fall” of a society has been going on for thousands of years and that’s the way it is… allow me to remind you of something: thousands of years AIN’T SHIT.

In an individual life, OH I wish we didn’t have to learn, learn, learn again, but we do. Consciousness is one of those things that when you begin to be self-aware, and you can see the stupid shit you’re doing--I mean, don’t you hate it when you can’t hide behind ignorance anymore, and you know what you’re doing isn’t the best thing, but you just sit back and watch as you pick up the cookie, again and again, until you FINALLY have some kind of shift, something you can’t unsee, something that changes everything, and now, you’ve learned, and you don’t reach for the cookie anymore. This may take several years in an individual life, which doesn’t feel like much when you look at a lifespan. So, globally, this can be thousands of years, but rest assured, WE ARE LEARNING. WE ARE EVOLVING. I mean, things ARE getting better, and FAST.

We have much more freedoms worldwide than we had a few hundred years ago. We have more transparency. The internet, cameras on our phones, and Wikileaks are making it harder and harder to keep secrets. Things are coming out of the shadows. New systems are emerging here and there in parts of the world, and there is much more to come. There always will be.

You see, when you begin to heal a wound, let’s look at an individual for a minute. Those core wounds are a bitch. Part of healing is feeling and expressing and dealing with repressed emotions and thoughts. You have to see it closely, and part of any healing is cleaning and tending to the wound. Have you ever had a bad cut or scrape? Cleaning that shit for healing it is painful. But it’s a necessary step.

For the past few thousands of years, the world has been HIGHLY repressed. I mean, look at the 50’s for God’s sake. We’ve been holding things in for millenia. Nearly every single person on the planet is feeling disempowered. Generally speaking, men are told NOT TO FEEL. I mean, what do we think is going to happen when they’re made to believe that their natural human emotions make them weak, undesirable pussies? What you’ll get from that is a collective RAGE for a while, part of the cleansing process. Sucks, but that’s what’s happening. Men are kept from feeling emotions and using intuition and women are shamed for coming out of the damn kitchen and having power and intelligence. Emotions are natural, creativity is natural. Women being kept in the kitchen stifled their very human need to evolve and create. More rage. Lots of rage, rage everywhere.

In an individual life, when someone is disempowered, getting mad is a step up the emotional ladder. I mean, that moment where you are getting beaten down, and enough rage bubbles up and you finally go “NO MOOOOOORE!” You NEED that rage to begin to get you back into a place of personal power.

Rage is like any big emotion. It’s too intense to sustain, so when it gets expressed, often in some unfortunate way, it subsides. However, there’s consequences for that, because what people are capable of in a rage is not who they are. I know I’ve been in rages before and said and done awful things I regretted deeply. And there was no going back, just having to clean up the mess. (Sometimes literally, because I threw and broke things in my house.)

So now we have this rage popping up, and it’s scary. We now just want to punish the rage, call them evil, say “how do people do this?” Well, that’s how. We’re repressed. Repression is the most unnatural thing EVER. This is how we learn. This is how we see what we need to do, and what we need to realize about our true nature as these amazing humans. We NEED to feel a sense of power, trust, and expression. We NEED to create. We NEED to ask questions and be curious. We NEED connection, love, and support from each other. When we don’t get out needs met, we have feel stress. Globally, when our needs are not met, we have war, chaos, hate, and cruelty.

However, EVERY DAY these intense things are giving birth to compassion, better systems, new inventions, ways of communicating, like the glorious internet which gives everyone, and I do mean everyone A VOICE. Things ARE getting better. Rage won’t last, because it can’t, it’s too intense. It’s just a natural outcome of repression, a pendulum swing if you will. Balance is a natural force that comes through awareness. Awareness of what works, what doesn’t, and what IS.

In the last 100 years, we’ve made leaps and bounds in the field of understanding how and what makes people tick. There’s a reason science is studying this so intently, because this is us TRYING TO UNDERSTAND OURSELVES. The more we understand ourselves and how we work, the more peace we have in our lives. I see this with myself and my individual clients. They come to me confused, sad, stuck, repressed, or depressed. Then we start looking. Closely. As they can see, things make sense. They begin healing, moving forward with their lives with more consciousness, living in alignment with their natural gifts and talents, and they feel a sense of inner peace, because their needs are met. They feel whole and connected.

When someone feels whole, they don’t go out and shoot people. They do great things in the world. They contribute to society. They’re happy.

Take a “God’s eye” view when you feel overwhelmed, and realize that when it seems like things are “getting bad” what’s REALLY happening is that they’re healing. That’s how it looks when things heal. We’re coming out of the shadows, moving more and more every day into our true nature.

We all want the same thing. All of us. We want to be seen. We want to create. We want to connect. We want to love. We want to express. We want to be accepted for who we are. We want to have our survival needs met, and have a comfortable place to eat and sleep. We want nurturing and affection. We want to feel comfortable in our skin. We want peace. THAT my friends, is HUMAN NATURE. We’re awesome.

We have SO much in common, and right now the world is evolving FAST. When it’s happening as fast as it is, we are going to go through a period where we’re having to deal with everything we’ve shoved down. It has to happen. You can’t bypass that step.

That’s where we are.

See it for what it is. Do your own exploration now. Look deeply into who you really are. Create, express, and connect more and more each day. As you move into your own power and expression, you become one less person who’s throwing rocks, blaming the fucking patriarchy for why you’re powerless, and is making things better for everyone. You absolutely matter. Your consciousness absolutely matters.

Like cells in the body. One heals and all those around it heal. You are more powerful than you imagine. We are collectively healing now. It’s messy. It’s not always fun. Ok healing is hardly ever fun. But, our prayers, our intentions ARE being answered. Things ARE getting better. But, you don’t have to wait until the world is peaceful. You don’t have to live in fear. You have the power, within you, to create YOUR world now. A world that makes sense. In your world, you can recognize your needs and meet them. You can recognize and contribute your gifts. You can recognize a cry for help and give compassion and love, first to yourself, and then to others. You’ll only know the power of compassion when you’ve felt it and been healed by it.

Then, you don’t have to remember to be compassionate, you just are. You become part of the healing, part of the world peace, and part of the solution, one step at a time.
